What Does it Represent

Our performance uses three spaces in the form of three varying performance on three different events, which are Performance, Presentation and Private View.

Iwona Soczewka and Nikoletta Szedenics's latest devised piece, What doe$ it repre$ent? reflects on the learning outcomes and assessment formula of the Project in a playful way. It is also a reality game while they are trying to sell the performance or themselves as designers on the "auction". Our project is talking about bouncing between two worlds: Art University and Art World. It is a result of our confusing hyperactive generation, which tends to loose itself in the surface of things, in the fragmentary perception of reality.

Technically, the performance is a mix of live performances and multimedia installations, which explores the idea of interaction between media and acting/non-acting.

Our way of working and methodology is based on editing and de-contextualising our source material.

The tone of the performance is very playful – it is essentially a game. It is a witty dialogue between projector and actors in a comedy of contemporary manners.

This Performance is the first part of the trilogy.
The second part is their real Presentation of the piece at the final assessment, which has not been recorded.

“I love it! It's a great piece, very inventive and tactile. I sometime have trouble understanding what's being said, but I don't really care. The camera work and the editing is serves work very well. The split screen and playing with different sizes is disconcerting and keeps me on my toes. Never felt bored, only confused - which is a creative state.
